Across our world, Travel and Tourism (T&T) is a significant contributor to local economies (±9% of global GDP).

T&T is also a significant contributor to environmental problems (±8% of carbon emissions).

On the positive side, T&T can be a ‘force for good’, as cultural barriers are broken down, and differences become opportunities for learning and sharing.

However, in many places, T&T is also seen to be the cause of local shortages of housing and accommodation.

For all of us who love to travel, the real challenge is how to minimise the negative impacts, as we enjoy the many positives that we contribute to.

For future generations, the consequences of us not doing this, are not worth thinking about.
