Travel is about connections

afootwego.com is born out of my personal experiences, as I have been researching and planning my own travel journeys and adventures.

My intention is for afootwego.com to be the resource that I wanted, and needed, when I first found myself captured by the travel ‘bug’.

Within afootwego.com you will find practical ideas, knowledge, and even some secrets, about how to enjoy low-stress travel adventures that won’t break the bank. These come from my own experiences, gained over +20 years of international travel. Some are my own creation, others I have learned from fellow travelers along the way.

Over the years, I have made use of various travel forums and numerous blog posts to inspire me and to help me plan (and carry out) my adventures. I have also provided many reviews and other reports on places, services, and events that I have experienced.

An interesting message
(to an Australian)

afootwego.com is my way of bringing this all together, and also of giving something back.

My hope is that afootwego.com will help you, encourage you, and even inspire you, to create and enjoy your own adventures. We have so many wonderful places and cultures to explore on this incredible (but also quite fragile) planet of ours.

Maps are the independent traveler’s best friend

Finally, afootwego.com is a reflection of my personal travel philosophy, which is to always respect destinations and cultures by promoting and supporting mindful, responsible travel practices.

When I am traveling, and when I am preparing my travel adventures, I regularly remind myself to ‘Be SMaRT’:

S = Support,
M = Mindful,
a = and,
R = Responsible,
T = Travel.

SMaRT will be an underlying theme throughout afootwego.com. ‘Be SMaRT’ has become my personal travel mantra.

You will find more about being ‘SMaRT’ at:
